Here are some tips to help make your session go smoothly (and easier on the kids!)
What’s the best time to do our session?
Mornings before 10am and evenings after 3pm are ideal lighting conditions for outdoor portraits, but if another time works better for you, we’ll work around the sun. In the event of rain, you can reschedule or move your session indoors. We have 6 acres with various trees and a rock wall for outdoor portraits and we use natural window light in our indoor studio
What should we wear?
Solid colors look best. Also, try to have everyone in your family dress similarly...keep it simple. You may want to bring a change of clothes for the kids, just in case. Get their individual portraits done in the same session and save money! If you wear eye-glasses be sure to bring them, after all that’s how the world sees you.
Newborns
Your baby changes quickly so schedule your little one’s first portrait session within the first 2 weeks! To get all of the special poses and expressions, newborn sessions may take longer, 1 to 3 hours. We can visit you in the hospital or at your home, where you may be more comfortable, or you can come to us. We are flexible and work around baby’s needs.
Seniors
You've finally made it to your senior year in High School...Congratulations!
You can bring up to 4 clothing changes. You may want to consider one casual outfit and one a little dressier. Some other choices may include: Letter Jacket, Cheerleader Uniform, Sports Uniform, Cap & Gown, etc.
Also, you might want to bring…
Comb or brush, sunglasses, hat, makeup, hairspray, jewelry and something to personalize your portrait…a football, hobby items, a musical instrument, your car, a special collection, an award you have earned…anything that expresses you. If you love the look of our watercolor images, bring something with a splash of color (like a bold blue hat or a vibrant pink scarf).
We all need friends
Bring along a friend or relative; it’s a lot more fun! They can also be included in a few poses with you.
People who love pets
Bring your special family member along! We welcome your pets with open arms, just let us know ahead of time if you want your pet to be a part of your portrait experience.

Get plenty of sleep the night before, good rest promotes good smiles! Let us know if you have any other requests. A portrait is something you'll cherish forever. We’re here to make your portrait experience as fun and meaningful as possible. Our #1 rule: Have fun! Having your picture taken doesn’t hurt – enjoy yourself!
